Take Back the Table.

It’s hard to remember when exactly cell phones took over the world, but they clearly have. If you don’t believe me, just walk into a restaurant and look around. You will see people sitting together yet dinning alone; consumed with a 6-inch screen, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling.

I have a strong conviction about tables. Tables are not just places to feed your stomach, but places to feed your soul as well. At my house we have a saying, “the table is about food and fellowship”. And in this device driven world, I propose we take back the table and bring back the fellowship.

Mom’s and Dad’s, it has to start with you. Make a new family rule that devices will not be present at or near the table, and then obey your own rule. Instead of looking down into a lifeless screen, look up at the other faces around your table.

Because at the end of the day, those are the faces you should be “liking” anyway.
